Globacom Nigeria enters an agreement with Ceragon to expand its network capability. Ceragon Networks, an Israeli supplier of 5G wireless transport solutions that has retained a foothold as one of the world's leading suppliers of 5G equipment, inked an agreement with Nigerian multinational telecoms firm Globacom to extend its network and sustain its cutting-edge technology.

According to a press release, the second-largest operator in Nigeria intends to construct Africa's largest and greatest telecommunications network, and as such, the partnership with Ceragon would dramatically boost network capacity and improve service delivery to consumers.

"Ceragon will provide Globacom with a customised solution that covers long-haul rural areas, high-capacity metro, and the access network as part of this multimillion-dollar deal, enabling the company to not only improve the quality of service to its existing subscribers but also to expand its reach and further grow its market share. The project, which started in the 4th quarter (Q4) of 2021, is scheduled to be completed in the first part of 2022, "According to the statement.

Ceragon Networks CEO Doron Arazi said, "Ceragon is dedicated to cooperating with clients worldwide to provide dependable, excellent experiences, and this project for Globacom is no exception. We collaborate with our clients to offer tailored, turnkey solutions that take their present and future demands into account. Globacom can rest certain that its network is 5G-ready with the anticipated introduction of 5G services in Nigeria."

The initiative will address fibre cut difficulties by using Ceragon's IP-50 E-Band technology to offer metro backhauling in lieu of fibre, and sometimes as a backup, according to the statement.

"With a focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), this solution will provide a high-capacity 10Gbps over-the-air connection, with an upgrade route to up to 20Gbps as required. This solution, like others in this major project, is not only quick to implement but also considerably lowers CAPEX and allows Globacom to achieve a rapid time-to-market, "Arazi continued.
