Users of OnePlus 6 and 6T Will No Longer Receive Support Updates
Software support for the OnePlus 6 and 6T series has been officially terminated three years after being launched with Android Oreo pre-installed.
The OnePlus 6 and 6T series are well acclaimed in the enthusiast fandom, giving much of what makes the "Never Settle" brand a cornerstone within the enthusiast fanbase. The devices were introduced six months apart in 2018 and had much of the same fundamental hardware. The OnePlus 6 and 6T featured a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 CPU and 6 to 12GB of RAM, which has served the OnePlus 6 and 6T well since launch.
The OnePlus 6 arrived with Android Oreo pre-installed, while the OnePlus 6T received Android 9 Pie later in the year. The pair was officially updated to Android 11 and OxygenOS 11 as part of OnePlus' three-year software update pledge.
The OnePlus Forums published a quiet announcement within an existing topic to indicate that, yep, official software support for the OnePlus 6 and 6T will end (h/t CachysBlog). This is hardly a surprise, but a recent upgrade has left the OnePlus 6 and 6T running OxygenOS 11.1.2.2 as the final software release. Fortunately, this includes the December 2021 security patch, but the contentious 12 and OxygenOS 12 OTA will not be made accessible.
Hello there, buddies. After three major upgrades and more than three years of updates, over 60 closed beta builds and more than 30 open beta versions, it's now time to conclude a chapter and announce the end of official software support for the OnePlus 6 and 6T.We consistently enhanced the software experience on these devices because of your constant support, and we can't thank you enough for your constant comments. We want to express our gratitude to all of the beta testers who have been evaluating features before they were published to the stable version since 2018. You played a significant part in improving OxygenOS to offer a better overall experience.Once again, we'd like to express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has helped us along the journey. Without you, none of this would be possible. We will continue to listen to your feedback in order to create even better goods in the future.- Announcement

We'd recommend LineageOS as a good place to start.
