YouTube Rolls Out Referral Program on TV Service Which Lets You Earn Credits Towards Your Monthly Bills
YouTube TV began as a low-cost alternative to cable television, but its membership fee has steadily increased over time, making it a somewhat pricey proposition. The conflict that Google sometimes has with channel and platform partners over YouTube TV also does not help. To entice current members and attract new ones, the streaming TV provider has established a referral scheme that rewards both referrers and new subscribers with incentives.
As part of the referral programme, you may offer new customers a $10 discount on their first month of YouTube TV. A $20 reduction will be applied to your subsequent bill after they pay their first charge. To be eligible to submit a recommendation, you must be a subscriber to the YouTube TV Base Plan—if you are just a subscriber to specific channels, you will not get a referral discount. Any member of a family group may also send recommendations, but the discount will be applied to the manager's account alone. Bear in mind that you are restricted to ten recommendations, which equates to $200 in bill credits.
According to Google's support website (via 9to5Google), YouTube TV will immediately notify you when a referral becomes a paying member—you will not get a discount if they sign up for a free trial and then cancel the subscription. Additionally, referrals must be new to YouTube TV and have not previously subscribed or utilised the free trial.
The following steps will produce a YouTube TV referral link for you:
- On your PC, use the YouTube TV app or go to the YouTube TV website.
- Then, click on your profile symbol. Make a referral.
- You will be provided with a unique referral link that you can copy and share with your friends and family.
As previously said, you are not the only one who benefits: Anyone who joins YouTube TV using this referral link and becomes a paid member will earn a one-time $10 credit applied to their account.
