Apple Reportedly Given A Raise To Many Retail Employees
Bloomberg report, many of Apple's U.S. retail employees are receiving raises ranging from 2% to 10%, depending on location. Those who work at the Genius Bar, as well as some senior hourly employees, are getting raises.

Inflation, a tight labour market, and employee dissatisfaction with working conditions in the wake of the pandemic are cited as reasons for Apple's decision to raise wages for retail employees.

Earlier this week, Bloomberg reported that pay raises were announced in-store briefings and one-on-one discussions with employees. Employees who have worked for the company before 2020 are the majority of those who will receive raises.

Apple hasn't yet informed all of the stores of its plans, but the raises will begin taking effect in February and are distinct from the annual raises that are given in October. After a $3 hourly raise, one salesperson now earns $25 per hour, while a repair worker now earns $24 after a $3 hourly raise. According to two Apple employees interviewed by Bloomberg, the salesperson now earns $25 per hour.

This week, Apple also informed its employees that they will be getting better benefits. From six paid sick days to twelve, Apple now allows employees to take time off for mental health leave, illness, or even to visit a doctor for a loved one.

Additionally, the company's vacation policy has been altered to allow employees to accrue more vacation days each year. Before, Apple offered additional vacation days after five years of service, but this has been reduced to three years. Vacation days and parental leave are now available to part-time employees, as well.
