Apple Adds iPhone 6 Plus To 'Vintage' List of Products
Apple has amended its list of historic and outdated items to add the iPhone 6 Plus, as it has been more than five years since the gadget was last offered for sale.

What are Apple "Vintage" Products?

Apple Vintage products are those products that have not been sold for more than five and less than seven years, and is considered historic and outdated but may or may not be able to receive service based on parts inventories and legal requirements. Such products are added to this list by the technology company.

The iPhone 6 Plus was launched with the iPhone 6 in September 2014 and was discontinued in September 2016 in conjunction with the launching of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone 6 Plus's predecessor, the iPhone 6, is not included in the outdated list at the moment due to its availability for a lengthier period.

Apple reintroduced the iPhone 6 as a midrange device in 2017, and it remained available for purchase until September 2018, so it will be another two years or so before it is labelled as an outdated product.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were significant for being the first handsets to accept Apple Pay and for being the first year that Apple provided different iPhone sizes. However, with the release of iOS 13, Apple discontinued software support for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Since the debut of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Apple has maintained its multi-size release strategy. Apple offers service and parts for historic devices for up to seven years, or as needed by law. But, repairs are subject to the availability of components.
