First Public Beta of MacOS Monterey With Universal Control Goes Live
Yesterday, MacOS Monterey 12.3 was released to Apple's public beta group, only one day after it was made available to developers for testing.
You may download the Monterey update from the Software Update section of the System Preferences app after downloading the appropriate beta profile from Apple's beta software website.
Using a single mouse/trackpad/keyboard, users will be able to operate several Macs and iPads simultaneously with the new Universal Control feature in macOS Monterey 12.3. If you have an iPad Pro and a MacBook Pro, you can use the trackpad and keyboard on the MacBook Pro to operate the iPad.
It is necessary to have the latest version of iPadOS loaded on your devices in order to use Universal Control on the iPad.
For the first time, macOS Monterey contains the new Emoji 14 characters such as "melting face" and "biting lip," as well as the ability to update AirPods using your Mac. There is no official update interface, but when connected to a Mac, your AirPods may get firmware upgrades over-the-air, much like an iPhone.
There are also a few tweaks made in the background. After Python 2's support was halted in January 2020, Apple is removing it from macOS with macOS 12.3, mandating upgrades to Dropbox and OneDrive's kernel extensions.
